Lavender belongs to the mint family ( Lamiaceae ) and comes from the Mediterranean region. This plant is known for its scent and the bright violet flowers . Like almost all species , French dentate lavender ( Lavendula dentata ) and spike lavender ( Lavandula latifolia ) require a light location . True lavender ( Lavendula ang u stifolia ), on the other hand , can also do well in a partially shaded location . Both the flowers and the leaves can look different depending on the species. Lavender is a perennial and flowers from June to August. The herb grows to a height of about 50 to 80 cm and can also be kept indoors, but prefers it outside and should be put back on the balcony or in the garden after winter . A calcareous soil is preferred by the lavender . Lavender is non -toxic to humans and pets, except rodents.
