The plant, which comes from the asparagus family (Asparagaceae), originally comes from Mexico and therefore needs a very bright location. The plant is ideal by the window, but in summer at temperatures that do not fall below 10 degrees, the elephant's foot can also be outside. The elephant's foot thrives in commercial soil and is suitable for beginners as it requires little water due to its succulent stem. The trunk is thicker at the bottom, the upper part of the trunk, from which the long hanging leaves emanate, is narrow. The plant resembles an elephant's foot, but also a bottleneck, which is why the plant is also known as the bottle tree. The indoor culture can grow up to 1.5 meters and is slightly poisonous to humans and pets.
